Celebrating our eighth team member achieving chartered status

We’re proud to celebrate a significant professional milestone, with eight members of our team now holding chartered surveyor status following building surveyor Tom Rance's successful completion of the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC).
Tom, based within Principle's Building Surveying department, has been awarded chartered status by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), joining seven colleagues who hold the same qualification across the business.
Investing in professional standards
The achievement reflects Principle's ongoing commitment to investing in professional development at every level of the organisation. Four further members of the leadership team are currently working towards becoming chartered, and we’re encouraging our wider team to pursue TPI qualifications.
Joe Jobson, joint managing director, said: "In a sector where raising professional standards remains a real priority, being led by chartered surveyors who are also doing the day-to-day work for our clients is something we're genuinely proud of. Our clients aren't just working with people who manage buildings — they're working with qualified professionals who understand the technical, legal and financial complexity of what they're being asked to oversee. Tom's achievement is a brilliant example of the talent we're investing in, and we look forward to supporting four more of our leadership team as they work towards their own chartership."
Tom's journey to chartered status
Tom joined Principle last year and has worked his way through the rigorous APC process to achieve one of the most respected qualifications in the property profession.
Reflecting on the achievement, Tom said: "Passing the APC is a huge milestone and the culmination of years of commitment and hard work. The process has been both challenging and rewarding. Achieving chartered status with RICS means a great deal to me — it represents the dedication and sacrifices made over a long period of time, and I'm incredibly proud that the hard work has paid off. I'm excited and honoured to now be part of such a prestigious organisation and to continue developing my career as a chartered professional."
Richard Coles, director of building surveying, said: "It's great news that Tom has successfully passed his APC and achieved chartered status. This is a significant professional milestone and a credit to the hard work, commitment and technical ability he has shown. His progression is also a real benefit to the department — it strengthens our technical capability, increases our capacity to deliver work independently, and supports the continued growth of the Building Surveying team. Having another qualified surveyor within the department will enhance client service and allow us to take on a wider range of instructions with greater confidence."
