Property Director Polly Dyer achieves MRICS

Our Property Director, Polly Dyer, has achieved MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) status, a testament to her unique blend of technical expertise, innovative thinking and transformational leadership across the residential property management sector.

Following a career in the RAF, estate agency and tech, Polly has worked in a range of property management roles over the past decade. She joined us in November 2023 and quickly became known for her unwavering passion for the sector, championing high levels of service for residents and clients. Polly leads on all our property management functions, overseeing the management of our portfolio and guiding the team to ensure this is maintained to the highest standard.

Chartered Surveyors at Principle

Polly is now our seventh Chartered Surveyor at Principle. Out of just over 100 people, that's a high percentage for any managing agent, and we have three more colleagues currently on the route to becoming Chartered. Both of our founders, Brett and Joe, are Chartered Surveyors having qualified through the more traditional route of a relevant degree in surveying. We support multiple pathways to professional qualification, recognising that talent and dedication can come through various routes.

Brett Williams, founder at Principle, commented “As our sector heads towards formal regulation, having Chartered Surveyors in the business could become a mandatory requirement, which we would welcome. We recognise that having the highest level of qualifications demonstrates competency and professionalism to clients and customers. More broadly, we're on a mission to stop referring to property management as an industry. It is a profession. Raising standards by increasing qualifications can only be a good thing for everyone, from property managers to the residents and leaseholders we serve.”

A structured approach to professional excellence

Polly’s style of leadership blends customer-focused property management with a coaching style of team management. She has developed a competency framework to provide clear pathways for professional development, ensuring every team member has the tools and guidance to reach their potential. It focuses on building technical expertise, soft skills, and recognised qualifications; the very pillars that underpin success within our profession.

The journey to MRICS illustrates the framework in action: identifying development goals, engaging in structured learning, and applying knowledge through leadership. Polly’s achievement demonstrates what's possible when ambition meets structure, and vision meets perseverance.

Polly says “This achievement is more than a personal milestone; it embodies the very heart of our competency framework: a structured approach designed to nurture talent, promote progression, and future-proof our business. This not only reinforces our culture of continuous improvement and accountability, but also means I lead by example, hopefully inspiring our team to aim higher and invest in their own professional growth.”

Brett added “It was a pleasure supporting Polly as her RICS Counsellor, and I am delighted that she has now added MRICS after her name. Her dedication and perseverance throughout this journey exemplifies the leadership we value at Principle."

Congratulations to Polly on her accomplishment!
