Job Title: Service Charge Accountant

Location: Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham

Working hours: Full time role, 37.5 hours per week (flexible working available)

Reports to: Finance Manager

Your Role

  • Undertake financial reviews of new management instructions as part of our handover and integration process
  • Issue leasehold service charge and ground rent demands, record receipts and other general ledger items
  • Assist Property Managers with annual service charge budget reviews, preparation, apportionment, and loading to our system (MRI Qube)
  • Production of residential service charge accounts and accounting reports
  • Prepare client reports as required
  • Liaise with clients, customers, contractors, and external accountants to resolve queries
  • Support with answering general enquiries from customers and colleagues

  • Strong administration and organisation skills
  • Excellent IT skills including use of Microsoft Office (outlook, word and excel)
  • Positive attitude and proactive approach to problem solving
  • Excellent time management with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail and good analytical skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Good verbal communication skills in dealing with stakeholders
  • Self motivated with the ability to use own initiative and work within a team


Your Experience

  • Previous experience working in an office environment
  • Experience in a client/service charge finance role, leasehold block management experience would be desirable
  • Knowledge of MRI Qube is desirable but not essential.
  • Qualifications gained including AAT, CIMA or ACCA would be desirable
