Seafront apartments in Portsmouth to be managed by Principle

A former hotel on the promenade in Portsmouth that was converted into 18 luxury apartments is to be looked after by Principle Estate Management.

South Parade RTM Co Ltd was formed around five years ago to manage Sea View Apartments at 14-15 South Parade, Southsea on behalf of the leaseholders.

The classic six-storey, stucco-fronted building overlooks gardens and the beach to the popular South Parade Pier, which was redeveloped in 2017, and then across the Solent to the Isle of Wight

Principle won the contract to manage the property after it was noticed how well it was managing the adjacent building, Solent Apartments, for one of its freeholder clients.

Julia Pilkington, a director of the South Parade RTM Co Ltd, said: “I take my role responsibly and approached Principle because we were unhappy with the previous agent who was not proactive and slow on communications.

“I was aware that Principle had taken over the management of the adjacent building a year ago and they seemed to be doing a good job.

“Also, there are some shared facilities at the rear including parking, a bin and bicycle store so it made sense for it to be all controlled by one company.”

The original building was the Solent Hotel which was purchased by two small companies who split it into what became Solent Apartments and Sea View Apartments.

Joe Jobson, Business Integration Director at Principle, said: “It was great to have been approached directly by the resident management company, and it makes absolute sense to have the management of these two adjoining buildings managed by the same company.

“We also act for the freeholder of seafront apartments on other properties, so they too are comforted that we are now involved.

“We’re delighted to add another property on the south coast which is a real growth area for us.

“We already have a number of properties between Bournemouth and Brighton currently in management, with more in the pipeline.”
